I have a Nissan bulbar which specifies using a warn xd9000 winch. . (I am using a T REX ). . but apparently one has to turn the winch over to mount it in the bar as they are a bottom mount, bottom reel feed when , in the actual bar it needs to be a side mount and top reel feel. Which also means rotating the clutch lever and control box.. . . .am I right, thoughts pls. . . . . smiley

Mark ,
The ideal winch mount should be bolted through the vertical face of the winch compliant bull bar, the strain is then pulling down/read forward against the metal front face.
The mounting bolts are usually only tapped into the cast base of the winch, and applying force any other way than down wards, could fracture the casting at the 4 mounting bolts.
Most winches can be mounted with the motor on either side, and the motor can also be turned so that the shift lever is at a convenient place to engage neutral or gear.
This is done by loosening the bolts which hold the motor winch to the pulley and gear box, and retightening when in the required position.
The winch fairleads or rollers can accept a cable feed either above or below the winch pulley.
Hope this helps?

I'll have a look at mine today because I am using a Kingone and there were problems mounting it. I know it works as I have used it to recover my Brunswick a couple of times with no dramas.
