I got a s/h engine and had it installed. I am now back on the road. I would like some advice as to how I can make sure that my engine does not over heat again. I have heard that this particular engine does not like to get hot. Are there any precautions I should take, or devices to give early warnings of overheating.
Regards to all

No motor likes to get hot. I've heard many stories of people cooking Patrol engines, a common line to most stories is "my temperature gauge went up for a little while then came down again- the engine stopped soon after that". This happens because the temp sender reads water temperature, not air temperature. Once you've lost all the coolant, the gauge drops again.
The most common way around this is to fit a low coolant sensor kit. You can buy these kits from VDO SGESCO at Archerfield for about $120.

Thanks for the advice Tony. I will be looking to install a censor kit in the near future.
