For anyone who don't know me I got involved through Graham who is a member of fishing forum that I am a member of and have become a good friend with since the first time I met him on one of the 4wd outings to Levuka. I like the format of this forum. Yesterday I was invited out with Graham and the club to go to O'Rielly's which was a tame outing but very pleasurable. Great company and thanks for having me. Just thought I would share some photos with you that I took. I hope this works.
Regards,
Andrew

Thanks Col. It might be short lived because Graham may not invite me on anymore outings after that one. Now the story behind the snake in the first photo. My son wanted to do that typical boy thing and do some climbing and he found a tree with an ideal hole to put his hand in to pull himself up. He was about to stick his hand in but thought to look in the hole first. Then he saw the snake in there and alerted me about it. After some of us took some photos I decided to do likewise because I had not seen a snake with those markings before and I didn't know what it was. Originally I thought it was some kind of python but when in doubt my rule is always to treat it as poisonous. The idea of taking a clean photo of the snake was to hopefully find a photo in a book or online to identify it. As it turns out my son is a very lucky boy. The snake is a Stephen's Banded snake and is quite rare and endangered but it is a highly venomous snake. The venom is neurotoxic and contains coagulants which clot the blood. Adults would be very sick and stand a good chance of dying if bitten but the fate of a young boy like my son would have almost been certain death. They treat Stephen's Banded snake bites with the same anti-venom as they would for a tiger snake. I am glad Kyle thought to check in the hole first. It could have saved his life.

Thanks Andrew for the photos of Saturday. You have just given me goose bumps about the first snake, to think we all got up reasonably close (which to me means anything from 10metres away and further) and took photos. Here we were thinking that the red bellied black was the main worry. Thanks for a good day.

Anne thankyou also for the lovely day. Has to be one of the most pleasant days without stress that I have had in a while. I was thinking some of the others who took a camera would share some photos as well. Hope to see you again on another outing in the future.
Regards,
Andrew |

Hi Ron. What I normally do is use a hosting site like www.photobucket.com.au where you simply join as a free member and then you can upload your photos onto that site. Once the photo is uploaded you simply copy the IMG code that is given and paste it into here. When you send your post the photo will appear. Hope this helps a bit.

Thats what we used to do on the old web site but when this one started up you were able to take them directly from your own computer but it doesn't seem to be working anymore.

You talked me into it even that took a bit of doing. I had to open up a new account at photo bucket because we now have a different computer and it said it didn't recognise my cookies.

Photos turned out great Ron. Thanks for sharing. I had to delete the 4wd group shot photos out of my post because I was advised that I am not allowed to display the photos with the number plates showing. I did edit them and put the edited photos back onto photobucket however when I post them back onto this site the blurred number plates mysteriously reappear. It has me stumped as to how that is possible but for now I have simply deleted the pics. Oh well, glad to see you posting up photos Ron.

I figured out the number plate mystery and have now added the 4wd group shots back in. Here is a shot of the Pajero in action from a previous rougher 4wd outing. For anyone wondering I did not need a Nissan to help me out, I climbed out all on my own.

Nice shot Andrew it is hard to get shots of your own car in action like that, you usually have to rely on someone else to take the photo's while you are doing the driving then pass them on to you. Thats the good thing about having a forum like this one then everyone can share their experiences with everybody. |

Interesting quote - not allowed.. where did that appear from, I didnt think I had been out of touch that much with the club. Is this a new rule? is it in the by laws?
It is normally by request that a number plate is not shown, but remembering that this is a club forum and not open to the general public I dont see the problem.

Well I was told that and asked to edit the photos to take out the number plates which is all good. I'm easy.
Now for those of you who were on the trip you will remember me saying something about my front end developing a rattle. After a short search we found the front shock absorber rubbers had perished and were most likely to be the source of the rattle. Replaced all rubbers today and the rattle is gone. Don't you just love it when the solution is cheap and simple?

Hi Di,
There have been issues in the past, and it was decided by the committee that the plates be covered, both on the website and in the magazine.
This has also been mentioned a few times at a few meetings.
And it just happens that Andrew (Poodroo) was a visitor on the O'riellies trip and the posting that he did is actually in the Visitors & Registered Users General section that is available for everyone to see.
Hope this answers your questions.
Graham. |

As a new member of this forum I posted this thread in the only obvious spot that actually had posts already in it. So where is this "Members Only" section? The only forum sections that I can see are "General Chat," "Club News," and "Membership Information." Am I missing something? In the navigation section I can only see the following options:
1/ Home
2/ FAQ
3/ Discussion Forum
4/ Contact Me
5/ Guestbook
6/ Arcade Centre
7/ Penalty Challenge

good morning Andrew,
When you become a full member of the club you get full acess to the club site. When you get full acess it looks pretty much the same as Aus Fish. This is in place to keep the rifraf out. The club site was hacked into late last year and this site was built a lot better to prevent it happening again.
Cheers Sue. |

Thanks Sue. Now that makes a lot more sense.
