I have an Ford Marvick (GQ patrol) Wagon and running 33inch high and 12 wide ST coopers and getting vibrations in the steering and still trying to sort it out the problem. i have had a few tyre balance ( which seams to fix it for a short time) and alignments, rotation of the tyres as well. Plus i have checked the springs and shockies as well, all seam to be still in good condtion. I have also checked the bearings on the front and they are all nice and firmly tight. Now i am pulling my hair out to find out what is next to do. Can you please let me know what other things can be done as the dollars are abit tight.
Thanks

panard bushs Are panard bushes the problem? I am pickng up a 92 GQ 4.2 diesel in a couple of weeks with a 3" lift kit and sunraysias. The sellers told me that this car also has a wobble which comes in at a 100. I was wondering if it was the heavy steel sunraysias which could be the prob if a little out of whack? What wheel/tyre combinations do you guys have with the wobblers and none wobblers? |

If the vibrations only happen under braking, and is more of a shudder, check that all of the steering arm ball-joints are not worn. If they are ok, the next place to check could be the front disc rotors that may be out of true line, with disc machining simply needed to correct the problem. Also as mentioned above, check that the front wheel bearings are nipped up tight enough.
I have a 2002 4.8 which had this problem until today. the cause was the front rotors needing machining, and wheel bearings nipping up.
And now, no more shuddering under braking!
