We are nearly at the end of our week away trip with the club. Numbers may have been down but us fellows that went on the trip saw lots of interesting things and had a great time. Usually happens when you travel with fellow club members. Full trip report will be in mag. Just a brief info session on items of highlight. Presently at Narrabri being subjected to a dust storm and 60 km winds. The last two days we have explored the National park areas around Narrabri. Sawn Rocks was very impressive.
After leaving Brisbane we stopped at the famous Nindigully pub for a meal, drinks and a stopover. Next was Lightning Ridge where we spent 3 days. Just Relics, a museum with different memorabilia was a great spot to visit, not only to learn about the history in the area from one family’s perspective, but to see how the drought is affecting the farmers out this way. Of course, the intriguing lives of the people who make up the outback town and surrounding areas. And we had to do a tour to see how they mine for that precious stone, opal. So much to see. Then we explored the artesian bore baths at Burrem Junction and Pilliga where we did a bush camp.
Soon we will be back in Brisbane. Thanks go to Andy Plail for planning the trip, which was well organised and to his and Vicky’s company. We had a ball.
